Your health is important.
So, it’s important to know the best place to get care.
If you have a significant or life-threatening medical situation, go to the emergency room at the nearest hospital immediately. However, if the condition is non-life-threatening, there is a better option: an urgent care center.
In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control, 32% of emergency room visits are not actual emergencies.
An urgent care center or walk-in clinic is designed for immediate, non-emergency healthcare without an appointment.
Urgent care and walk-in clinics have numerous advantages:
- Urgent care locations are typically closer than emergency rooms, with more options throughout Bucks and Montgomery Counties
- 85% of urgent care patients experience 15 minutes or less wait times, with most visits taking about 60 minutes total
- Visiting an urgent care center generally has lower out-of-pocket costs. The urgent care copayment for members enrolled in BMCS consortium health plan ranges from $24 to $50 but the emergency room copayment is $100 (it’s waived if admitted to the hospital).
