May 5, 2025
As we have previously announced, effective July 1, 2025, CVS Caremark® will be the new pharmacy benefits (PBM) vendor.
We are working hard to make this transition as seamless as possible. However, some members will be required to obtain a new prescription for certain medications and other members may need to change medications. Members who will be impacted will be individually notified directly and provided a transition period after July 1 until December 31, 2025, to make any changes needed.
During this transition period we’ll be providing members with information about how the CVS Caremark pharmacy plan works. This Benefit Basics explains what a formulary is and how it may affect your prescription coverage.
Your coverage under CVS Caremark is based on a formulary—a list of covered medications. The medications included in this formulary offer a wide selection of clinically sound and cost-efficient generic and brand options.
When your doctor prescribes a formulary medication, you’ll pay your plan’s required copay or coinsurance at the pharmacy. Remember, only your doctor can decide which prescription drug works best for you. We encourage you to consult with your doctor about any changes to your medications.
